The Specialty of Chiropractice Orthopedics
Chiropractic Orthopedics is defined
as that branch of chiropractic medicine
that includes the continued acquisition
of knowledge relative to both normal
functions and diseases of the human
body as they relate to the bones,
joints, capsules, discs, muscles,
ligaments, tendons, their complete
neurological components, referred
organ systems and contiguous
tissues; and the development and
perfection of skills relative to health
maintenance when such exists and
when not, the investigation, historical
review, physical detection, correlative
diagnosis development and complete
management of any disorder within
the bounds defined herein; and the
delivery of the combined knowledge
and skill on a primary basis to patients
who both need and desire this service
to the eventual outcome of remission,
whenever resolution is not readily
achievable.

CHIROPRACTIC
ORTHOPEDICS [CCO] The Council is the political support for
chiropractic orthopedics.
The Council is a subsidiary of the
American Chiropractic Association
(ACA) and as a part of the ACA, a
non-profit, national, chiropractic, trade
organization, establishes and
maintains national recognition for the
specialty of chiropractic orthopedics.
The Council promotes postdoctoral
criteria for chiropractic orthopedics,
supports seminars on chiropractic
orthopedics, disseminates educational
materials through Council newsletters,
clinical discourses and ACANews, and
encourages improved interprofessional
and intraprofessional relations and
shares knowledge with all doctors of
chiropractic for the benefit of the public
and the profession.
Membership is open to all members of
the ACA.

AMERICAN COLLEGE OF
CHIORPRACTIC ORTHOPEDICS
[ACCO] The College is the postdoctoral continuing
education support for chiropractic
orthopedics.
The College is an independent, nonprofit,
educational organization dedicated
to the specialty of chiropractic
orthopedics.
The College holds an annual educational
conference for all Doctors of
Chiropractic interested in advancing
their knowledge in chiropractic orthopedics.
The College provides a meeting venue
for the chiropractic orthopedic membership
organizations to advance the
growth of the specialty.
The College publishes the Journal of
the American College of Chiropractic
Orthopedics.
The College administrates the
Maynard F. Lipe Memorial
Scholarship.
Membership is open to all licensed
Doctors of Chiropractic.

THE ACADEMY OF
CHIROPRACTIC
ORTHOPEDISTS [ACO]
The Academy is an examining and
recertification support for chiropractic
orthopedics.
The Academy examination process
results in Diplomate status (DACO)
and eligibility for election to membership
as a Fellow of the Academy of
Chiropractic Orthopedists (FACO).
The Academy provides a certificate of
continuing competence in the specialty
of chiropractic orthopedics through
recertification of the Diplomates.
The Academy works with chiropractic,
educational institutions, as an advisor
for chiropractic orthopedic academic
advancement.
The Academy provides venues for
presentation of scientific papers.
Membership is based on orthopedic
board certification.
